Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 25, for See You at the Pole.

Please mark your calendars for our next PTO meeting on Monday, October 7, at 6 pm in the Media Center. We have included the PTO minutes from the last meeting. If you are interested in running for PTO president, PTO vice president, or PTO secretary, please email Ms. Palmer at lpalmer@ecps.us.

Good evening, Eagle families,
This is Ms. Palmer, your principal. I wanted to inform you that this morning, we conducted a scheduled lockdown drill at our school. This drill is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff in the event of an emergency.
During the drill, students practiced lockdown procedures, including how to remain calm and quiet and follow instructions from teachers and staff. I’m pleased to share that the drill went smoothly, and students demonstrated great responsibility and cooperation.
Please rest assured that these drills are routine and conducted to ensure that everyone is well-prepared in case of a real emergency. If you have any questions or would like more information about our safety protocols, feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school a safe environment.

Candy Man is Back!
GW Carver has officially kicked off our Fall Candy Man Fundraiser! The Candy Man Fall Fundraiser is open from Wednesday, September 11th through Tuesday, September 24th. Scholars should have brought home fundraiser information today.
We encourage all families to consider supporting the Fall Fundraiser. School fundraisers help us provide the resources needed to make teaching and learning engaging, rigorous, and fun!
There are incentives for our top sellers, but whether you support a small or a large amount, every little bit helps.
Thank you in advance for supporting our Eagles at G.W. Carver's Fall Candy Man Fundraiser.

Good evening, Eagle families, This is your principal, Ms. Palmer, with updates for the week of September 9-September 13. On Monday, September 9th, we will have our first 4th and 5th grade chorus practice. Pick-up time is at 4 p.m. 4th graders should be picked up in the K-1 loop, and 5th graders should be picked up in the front parking lot. The PTO will host its first meeting of the school year on Monday starting at 6 p.m. in the media center. They will discuss upcoming school events and elect new PTO officers. Third-grade scholars will take the Beginning of Grade (BOG) exam on Tuesday, September 10th. Scholars should not stress or worry. The BOG is simply a test to show us where our scholars are regarding their Reading proficiency and to provide data that will help us plan our Reading instruction, interventions, and enrichment moving forward. Please ensure your 3rd-grade scholar gets a good night's rest and has a calm morning in preparation for the BOG on Tuesday. The annual Candy Man Fundraiser kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 11th, and will run through Friday, Sept. 24th. Your scholar will bring home all the information about the fundraiser, ways to place orders, and incentives on Wednesday. Please ask your scholar for that information when they get home on Wednesday. We appreciate everyone who plans to support our fundraiser. School fundraisers support continued programming, supplies, and resources at G.W. Carver. We look forward to an action-packed third week of school, Soar High Eagles!

Please join us this Monday, September 9, for our first PTO meeting of the year. We will meet in the media center beginning at 6:00 pm.

Good evening, Eagle families.
This is your principal, Ms. Palmer, with a few reminders. In the morning car line, please ensure your scholar is ready to unload with bookbags, lunch boxes, water bottles, and anything in hand to make a quick exit. In the front lot, all students will unload in the right lane; the left lane is for cars to drive around to find parking or exit the parking lot.
Please remember that our cut-off time for student early check-out is 2:45 p.m. If you arrive after 2:45 p.m., you will be directed to join the car lines for dismissal. Our first priority is student safety, and this will ensure a smooth end of the day.
Thank you for your support. We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow morning. Soar High, Eagles!

Families of Bus 407, we are running a few minutes behind as we worked to ensure the A/C was working! Thank you so much for your patience and we will have your children home soon.

4th and 5th graders who are interested in chorus have auditions on Wednesday or Thursday (pick the day that works for you) at 7:30 a.m. in Ms. Clayton's room.

Good evening, G.W. Carver families! This is Ms. Palmer, your principal. Our commitment to excellence has shone through, with students settling into their routines seamlessly and teachers delivering engaging lessons right from the start. Thank you all for your cooperation and support—it’s been crucial to our success.
I’m also excited to announce that our Pre-K program starts this week with staggered enrollment! We can’t wait to welcome our youngest learners to the school community. If you have a Pre-K and older scholar, please refer to the arrival and dismissal procedures shared on the app and Facebook. All K-5 car riders must enter through the front entrance. Pre-K scholars will be dismissed at 3:00; please pick up your Pre-K scholar first and then enter the next youngest dismissal location.
Mrs. Thorne has been working with the bus garage to get updated bus routes. Please be patient as we work to ensure all of our Eagles have their bus information and that our drivers learn the updated routes.
Our K-5 scholars began their iReady math assessments last week and will start their mClass reading assessments with their teachers one-on-one.
At this time, K-5 scholars should have brought home a letter to connect families to the Rooms platform on the ECPS app. We apologize for any technical difficulties you may have experienced. Please let your child's teacher or front office know if you did not receive a letter.
Please remember that we will not have school tomorrow, Monday, September 2, due to Labor Day. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning. Have an excellent rest of your weekend. Soar High, Eagles!

As our youngest scholar, PreK starts this week, please review the dismissal procedures. PreK scholars dismiss beginning at 3:00 p.m. Please pick up your Pre-K scholar and join the next youngest dismissal location. There will not be any scholars from K-5 dismissed from the Pre-K building this year. We can't wait for our youngest Eagles to join us!

Thank you for a successful first week of morning arrivals and drop-offs. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning.

This afternoon, we were honored by a special visit from Mr. Eddie Pettaway, who brought his annual delivery of beautiful mums to brighten our central office and schools.
Mr. Pettaway, a cherished former custodian who dedicated many years to serving our schools, continues to show his love and commitment to our community through this thoughtful gesture. His ongoing kindness not only enhances our work environment but also serves as a powerful reminder of the positive impact one person can make.
We are deeply grateful for Mr. Pettaway's enduring dedication and the inspiration he brings to us all. Thank you, Mr. Pettaway, for your unwavering support and for always lifting our spirits!

Reminder: No School on Monday, September 2, 2024!
As we enjoy the long weekend, let's take a moment to honor and appreciate the hardworking individuals who keep our communities running strong. Thank you to our dedicated labor force!

Good afternoon, buses have just left campus. We apologize for the delay. We are excited to see our scholars tomorrow morning.

Our Carver Eagles have had an excellent first day. They've been learning about their classmates, teachers, and having fun! We can't wait to see what day two brings❤️ 🦅

Good morning, Carver families! If your child rides Bus 389, please know that it is running about 30 minutes behind due to mechanical issues. Thank you for your patience!

Please review our afternoon dismissal procedures. Remember that students cannot be checked out through the front office after 2:45 pm.
In case of an emergency transportation change, please contact the school before 2:00 pm (this includes sending messages to teachers on the ECPS app requesting a transportation change as teachers may not have access to check their messages after 2:00 pm). This time is needed to record the transportation form, which will be shared with your child’s teacher by 2:45 pm.
Please be patient as we streamline our dismissal routines.
